~ Sweat Gold & Orange Simpson ~
Length: 2 3/4"
Grade: 8.5
Description: A thin, well made Simpson Projectile Point fashioned from heavily patinated gold and orange Ocala Chert. The piece exhibits clear evidence of multiple resharpening episodes. The base and lateral edges are heavily ground and both blade faces display a pronouned but short central thinning flute. Collateral flaking is present on each blade face, however, most noteworthy is the singular flake scar near the midsection on both faces, indicating an 'Overshot' flake driven cleanly from one side across and off the opposite margin. This is rarely observed and highly desirable feature on projectile points and exemplifies the high skill set of this ancient Ice Age hunter.
Provenance: Found on private property with permission in Gilchrist Co. Florida. Santa Fe River Basin found by Mike Stewart, Ex: Kenny Spillars collection. Ex Major Spessard, Ex Jacky Fuller. Also comes with a Carlos Tatum C.O.A.
