~ G-10 ~ The Rarest Florida Paleo Type ~ Union Side Notch ~
Length: 2 1/4"
Grade: 10
Description: This is a classic Union Side Notch one of the rarest transitional points between the Paleo Suwannee and the Proto-Archaic Greenbrier. (Except Moustach Simpson) You can see the attributes of both the Suwannee and Greenbrier Point types here. Like the Suwannee, the ears are rounded and you can start to see the Greenbrier in it with the slight beginnings of notches. Because it is a transitional point these were not made for a very long time. Made of raw Coastal Plains Chert this example is heavily patinated and has a smooth ground base.
Provenance: Found on private property with permission in Jackson Co. Florida, Chipola River Basin.
