Description: Caddo Culture 'Hempstead Engraved' Bowl, Late Mississippian (1500 AD.). This pieces does have some professional restoration. The form and geometrical pattern is beautiful, the designs were added after firing using an engraving tool. A similar example with this same design is pictured on page 38 of the latest Overstreet Book.

Provenance: Found many years ago on private property with permission. Found in Clark Co. near the Red River in southeastern Arkansas.
