Description: This bowll has a lot character and appeal. Red painted wares are rarely seen make up a very small portion of all the pottery found in Arkansas. The red painted cross inside this bowl could represent the 4 cardinal directions and have the duel representation of the eternal sacred fire. This is a Mississippian Quapaw vessel and is late prehistoric in age. The Quapaw settled into the Arkansas River valley after migrating from the Atlantic Coast.
