Description: This nice Shell Tempered Strap Handle Pot was found many years ago. The two handles are intact and have a protrusion or 'Node' at the top of each one. Classic Tennessee Valley Middle Mississippian Culture Pottery vessel. Less than 10 percent has been restored around the rim. A couple of cracks can be seen again, around the rim where the pieces were glued back in place. Rare to find any complete pottery in the deep south.
Provenance: Found many years ago on private property with permission in Jackson Co. Alabama Lake Guntersville. Found in the 1940's.
